Need help in chord progressions

Pls, I am new to this community and I seriously need help on chord progressions.For instance, if I want to do a 1-4-5 progression starting from CEG, should I move to CFA and then to BDG or can you give better ways of doing that progression.Can you give better ways of picking these chords.

Thanx T-Block for posting the urls for chord progressions. I've been looking all over for something like this even on Youtube and really didn't find anything.  Thank You for taking the time out and posting.  One question.....in studying and learning these chord progression will this help in playing by ear???

It helped me to play by ear. As I was practicing those progressions over and over, I slowly started hearing them in songs. Now, I can usually tell by what and how a person is singing what patterns to use. It's a step-by-step process that really takes a few years before you will start to see the results of all the hard work you put into it.
