Circle of fifths?
« on: April 08, 2010, 04:54:06 AM »
One more thing LGM fam, the circle of fifths. Well I've learned that it is a good tool to practice all chord types and I also discovered the what you call musical zip code (7-3-6-2-5-1-4) in it.

Im always intrigued when people say things like "endless possibilities" in chord progressions formed from this circle but since there are usually no examples that go with it, Im still left confused because I would like to have that kind of endless practice yet seeing where Im going.

Most theory gurus do xplain but leave me early, I think they assume we've got the point already yet not clearly. Can sombody shed some light here, any idea will be of great help

Blessed!

At the top of the Circle Of Fifths diagram, the key of C has no sharps or flats. Starting from there and going clockwise by ascending fifths, the key of G has one sharp, the key of D has 2 sharps, and so on. Going counterclockwise from the top by descending fourths, the key of F has one flat, the key of B♭ has 2 flats, and so on.

Hey docjohn, I can't afford those at the moment + it's kinda difficult to get such stuff down here since it is not available in our book shops (even in South Africa).

I usually go to u-tube,search   gospel, hammond,or a specific artist or song title.Usually this puts you in a specific genre,'then just scroll thru.On my Mac,have
"Real Player" which gives you a list of what you 've watched.Sometimes will allow you to download into a file/folder.

I don't know what limitations you have with your setup, maybe set up a history file/folder;then send what you want to it,if nothing else will give you an address to return to re-view.

I'm not the most literate computer guy on the site-maybe ask for some help!
