HOW DO YOU MAKE IT SCREAM?
« on: December 06, 2004, 03:02:37 PM »
Particularly in A-flat, B-flat, C-Sharp, and E-flat?  Normally, I just hold two notes at the top end of the keyboard and it's OK.  But I've seen some musicians use three or more notes to produce a scream that makes you want to get up and shout immediately and I've got to know how they do it.

Just hold the following notes on the higher octaves with a shout setting in the drawbars.  Here is a basic chord in Ab:

B D Eb Ab

then just invert the chord
D Eb Ab B

Hope I answered your question.  This should get you started on your way.

COOL!  I normally hold Eb and Ab and it sounds cool but not FULL and COOL!  I want it to be FULL AND COOL!  Thanks.  I'll try this at rehearsal tomorrow night!

That A-flat scream is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  That was the effect I had been seeking for YEARS!  I would have never gotten it on my own, but it is off the chain!

Now, is there a formula I can use to produce this in other keys, or can someone tell me the same thing in B-flat, E-flat, and C-Sharp?

Thanks!

It just depend on the drawbar settings that u using....i usually pull all my bars out...888888888 or 688888888.....preaching chords...800000008 with leslie on fast it won't scream but it can set it up for one!     Even (if I can remember) 808808008 which is all the white drawbars with a added bass can pump it out too!!

glissandos (not sure if that's the correct term), but sliding up the keys to a scream is great for backing up a preacher.  When I really get into it, I make sure I give plenty of slides.
