No Keyboard Player
« on: December 27, 2009, 02:12:26 PM »
:o  I am new to the site.  The keyboard player at our church left and went back home unexpectedly.  He was our keyboard player and our choir director.  Everyone is looking to me to take over.  I have 20 years of off and on keyboard experience, I am not familiar with a lot of the latest chords ( I played old school) but I wish to fill in the gap.  We are a small church and can not afford to pay a musician.  Does anybody have any input on this?

First off, do u even want to be the musician for you church? If you don't, I would suggest u find someone in the church who wants to learn and teach them.

If you do, then my next question would be do u want to play by ear or sheet music or both? If u want to play by sheet music, then u need to get a teacher. If u want to play by ear, you've come to the right place. Here is the link that will get u started playing by ear: http://www.learngospelmusic.com/forums/index.php/topic,42768.0.html

Also, I have a list of songs that I've chorded out. They range from some old stuff, to a lot of the new contemporary stuff. Here's the link of all the songs I've chorded that will help you as you improve your skills: http://www.learngospelmusic.com/forums/index.php/topic,55770.0.html

I suggest u visit the first link and go through it for a while b4 attempting to try and learn songs. Trust me, people who skip the first link and think they can get right to learning songs always hit a wall and have to return to it anyway. So why not save yourself some trouble and start with the first link.
