Question:

You're teaching parts to a choir that isn't very experienced.

Would it be better to meet with each group (Sop, Alt, Ten) separately first, or just work with everyone work on small sections of the song at a time?

small pieces, ie chorus, vamp, etc.
You still do one section at a time, play and sing their part and have them do it with you, then by themselves. Then go to next section and do the same. If its especially hard, or the group are very inexperienced, do sop and alto together after you do them individually, or other combinations, so they can practice holding their note while someone else is standing beside them singing otherwise. Then altogether.
