Boxing: Pacman vs. Mayweather
« on: November 16, 2009, 07:23:28 AM »
...okay, after watching the best fight this year this past Saturday night, (Pacquiao vs. Cotto) I was thinking/talking about the money fight (Mayweather vs. Pacquiao) and came up with a few things that Pacman needs to correct before stepping in the ring with Floyd.

1. Manny needs to bring his A+ defense and "smart offense."  I know that Manny loves to punch but if you're going against Floyd you need to fight "smart."  Pacquiao was way too open the first 4 -5 rounds versus Cotto leaving room for an unexpected punch or left hook which did reach him a few times.

2.  Pacquiao needs to understand that Floyd has "great" defense.  He will let you throw your Tsunami punch combos but many of those "will" hit his gloves and forearms leaving Floyd to hit you with again an unexpected jab and left hook.  (Ask Ricky Haddon) lol

...you guys' thoughts and or thoughts about Saturday's Fight...

I didn't see it.  I only saw and heard the ESPN highlights.  Manny loves to swing.  That's for sure.  I'm not so sure that a strategy of winning by punch count is going to be effective against Mayweather.

It will definetely be a biiiiggggg fight.  The real Question is will Mayweather take the fight.  We have to wait and see.

If he doesn't take the fight, won't he always question if he was the greatest (no matter how times he'll say it out of his mouth)?

You know the media and the public will say he's a 'punk'.

...you see that's the thing.  It's like that Wii Sports Boxing; the first 4 to 5 fights you'll get away with throwing a lot of punches to knock your opponent out but that next fight you're faced with a skilled boxer and you get knocked out.  :D

...he'll take the fight.  If not, he'll definetly go down as a punk.  I think that fight will be the biggest in the history of boxing. IMHO

...Pacman has got to work on his "d" or he'll end up like your boy Ricky. lol

Nooooo way.

...are you being sarcastic over there RJ? lol

...Dude, the first guy to defeat Mayweather and shut his mouth up will automatically become the first king of the U.S.A. lol  Pacquiao may very well be that guy but I actually think the guy to do it will probably be.....Shane Mosley.  That guy has been boxing beautifully lately.  That's just me though.

Not at all!

Do you think

Mayweather vs Pacquiao

Will be bigger than

Ali vs Frazier I

or

Ali vs Frazier III

There's just no way.  I believe it will be the biggest RECENT fight though.

Yo, your man is talkin' SO much trash. He was one sentence away from 'I'm so pretty; I'm a bad man!' :D :D :D

Tell you what, if they do fight, we need to get to a Dave & Busters and check it out.

I would think it was trash talking also, IF it wasn't the truth. :)  The man makes some excellent points

Agreed. Don't mean he wasn't talkin' trash, though.  :D

Oh he definitely was.

"Whatever I do to Pacquiao has already been done.  He's been beat on three occasions.  And if I knock him out I don't want the world to be shocked because he's been knocked out twice before, so it's nothing new."

 :D :D

That is some Grade A trash talking!
