Jersey's dumbest laws ever seen
« on: August 25, 2009, 02:50:39 PM »
After moving to jersey I have noticed that we havesome of the dumbest laws I have ever seen.
quote:

New Jersey is a very popular state in US. The dumb laws in this state are worth noticing.

These laws, however, have full explanation behind them, but still, they seem so dumb!

Here is a list of some of the dumb laws In New jersey.

? If you are a driver, you have to warn everyone who you pass on the highway before they do the same thing.

? No minor can buy handcuffs.

? If you are going to do a murder, beware! You are not allowed to wear a bullet proof.

? In case of an emergency, it is illegal not to give a telephone line to someone who is in need of it.

? All motorists have to honk before passing another car. This includes bicyclist and skateboarders as well.

? It is against the law to pump your own gas. This funny rule applies only in two states of the US. This rule argues that pump owners should have extra labor to fill the gas.
Another reason behind this is, if the customer goes to a pump which has attendants, the sale will go high because of the good service to customers.

? You can not frown at a police officer.

? If you are caught driving drunk, you may never get a license that is personalized.

? Car dealerships can be opened on Sundays.

? You are not allowed to slurp your soup.

? If you are driving an automobile, you can not overtake a horse driven carriage.

? You can not detain a homing pigeon.

* you can not pull or push a car.

There are also weird laws regarding what you eat in New Jersey. Selling ice cream after 6pm in Newark is illegal, unless the customer has a doctor?s note. You may want to purchase your ice cream early in the day to avoid breaking this law.

Another dumb law relating to food in New Jersey restricts noise level. It is illegal to slurp your soup. If you cannot eat soup quietly you should skip this course or only have soup in the privacy of your home.

A funny law about protective gear exists in New Jersey also. You may not wear a bulletproof vest while committing a murder. This is illegal and may result in your arrest.

Welcome to New Joysey.

As for the gas/fuel pumping rule, I guess I broke the law at the truck stops.

Thanks for the heads up.  My mom lives in Cape May.  I'll be ready when I visit her again.

Oklahoma's Dumb Laws

One may not promote a “horse tripping event”.

Dogs must have a permit signed by the mayor in order to congregate in groups of three or more on private property.

Oklahoma will not tolerate anyone taking a bite out of another’s hamburger. :D

It is against the law to read a comic book while operating a motor vehicle.

Whaling is illegal.

It is illegal to have the hind legs of farm animals in your boots.

People who make “ugly faces” at dogs may be fined and/or jailed.

Cars must be tethered outside of public buildings.

No one may spit on a sidewalk. It is illegal to wear your boots to bed.

Fish may not be contained in fishbowls while on a public bus.

Tissues are not to be found in the back of one’s car.

For the record, New Jersey is a state, not a city.  :-\

And I happen to appreciate the "no self-service" law regarding gas stations.  Whenever I'm even remotely close to NJ, I take advantage of this law.  When I lived in NY and worked in NJ, I would go across the Outer Bridge Crossing on E, just praying I'd make it to the other side, so I could get my gas in Jersey... LOL!
When you're in love you don't want to fall asleep bc reality is finally better than your dreams.

Since you were at a truck stop, were you pumping diesel? I think the law might be exempt if you're pumping diesel.
