Help me choose plz Motif 7, 8 or S90ES
« on: August 14, 2009, 04:38:34 AM »
Hi guys,

Im in the process of buying a keyboard and just want yall opinions on my options.

Im deciding between the Yamaha Motif(s) ES7; ES8; XS7; XS8 or S90ES (is the S90ES a newer model build from the Motifs?)

I love the nice phat Rhodes sounds these Yamahas give and the Pianos are great. I'm not much into synth yet as I always play lead piano.

Thanks guys, what are your thoughts?
Muzo in the making...toggling the keys in Worship Mode!

God Bless.

if you dont need to sample, or sequence, the S90ES has the sounds you're looking for, but not all that other stuff that makes the board a workstation.

Im all for 8's so (especially since you play main piano), between the es8 and the xs8, the first thing is that $1200-$1500 price difference.

I have had an xs6 for about 9 months, and i really like the phrases, sampling option and all the other bells and whistles-even though have not used all of them to the fullest.I used to play the 1 st version of the S90 when it came out  in the late 90's.had played an S90 before i got the xs,still think the xs was the better deal. The xs is a BIG piece of change, but how often are you gonna buy a new board? If it were me,if LORD allowed get the XS 7 or 8.At my former church,MOM was considering getting a second xs 6(about 1500 used) and a cheap 88 controller(3-500).That way he had an 88 wtd.,could travel light, and use a 88 note wtd. clavinola  that the church had.He got a deal on a Roland RD700 for $1100 when the new model came out.
