Keyboard Question, and I really need ya'lls help!
« on: August 02, 2006, 11:58:29 PM »
I'm about to purchase a keyboard, and would like to know what you guys would do if you had to choose between the new yamaha Mo and the original Motif? I've heard of comparisons with the Triton and the Triton Le. I hardly see any people using the Le, so is that the way the MO will end up? Please give me your take? Thanks!

You just want to get a yamaha keyboard or any keyboard in that price range?
Vision without action is just day dreaming. I miss practicing.

Heya All,

Well I would recommend the Yamaha Motif Original. We have it at our church, and there is so much that you can do with it. There is a USB expansion that you can plug your iPod into if you wish.

It is a classic Yamaha, and you will not have to sit down and read the complete manual before you can use it.

Praise HIm!!

I got the MO8 about 4 months ago and i love it.  Its been a blessing.  The sounds on there are excellent.  I do know it doesnt have as many sounds on it as the Motif, it has two less sound banks.   It has a onboard sequencing but no built in memory although you can use a usb memory stick or connect to your computer for storage or sequencing. .  When you turn it off you lose everything(an arrangement you are doing with the sequencer) unless you have some storage device or hooked up to the computer.  God Bless me I got mines for 1280.00 they were having a 20 Percent sale and my Pastor gave me the church exempt number so I did not have to pay taxes.  Thank You Jesus.  Its definitely worth the money.  By the way I got mines from Sam Ash.  Now here is the difference you might be looking for:  The MO uses the same sound engine as the Yamaha Motif ES  thats the real difference the original Motif uses the older sounds which there is nothing wrong with them.  Another thing they say you cant upgrade or upload the sounds on the MO, that is not true you can go to www.motifator.com they have a way to do it and you can buy the sounds already on the memory stick.  It also has an excellent feel to it.

God Bless with your new keyboard,

Hope this helps,

The MOs have all the Voice and Pattern power of a Motif ES, double the Motif ES Performance capacity (256), but no sampling. With brand new Voices, 4 master zones, and instant access to computer control this is a truly versatile keyboard for stage or studio.

Go to this page for the specs:

get the motif!!! i own a motif es and a motif classic, and i promise you the classic (original) has it going on.. the polyphony may only be 67 voices, but if you double up on your sounds in pattern mode; you can make your performance fatter!! if you get it i will send you a performance to load in your motif!!!

Get the ES. Dont get the MO. The MO is poorly constructed, at least a few people on here including me has had a problem with the keys losing their touch sensitivity which has to be repaired.

Hey, it doesn't take three years to make up one's mind. Check the dates.  I wonder what he did buy and how it has worked for hime. KeysforChrist, if you are still on board, what did you buy and how has it performed?
