Any chord symbol with "add" means to add that particular scale degree to the chord.

Dadd9 means a D major chord with the 9th scale degree added in. So, normally the D major scale is laid out like this:

D=1  E=2  F#=3  G=4  A=5  B=6  C#=7

Afterwards, the scale degrees keep going up, and you stop at 13:

D=8  E=9  F#=10  G=11  A=12  B=13

So, u got the D major chord (D-F#-A) plus the 9th (E) added in:

D-F#-A-E   or   D-E-F#-A

Any questions?
