Well if by "All in one" you mean theory and sight-reading as well, then not really. There are the theory books then the performance books. I will be using both however.

I am excited to do this because i have wanted to be proficient at sight-reading for a long while.

Are you teaching yourself?

No. I will be taking formal lessons. I could teach myself since i have enough background on music theory but i prefer to be with a teacher who will show me proper technique and such.

Sister CM, congrats.  Since you have completed the two levels, how would you describe your reading ability? (Fluent, very good, fair, Etc.)
Did you complete the book fully, or did you start at a point that matched your previous knowledge? How long did it take?  Am I nosey or what?

Fair

Did you complete the book fully, or did you start at a point that matched your previous knowledge? How long did it take?

berbie

Yes, I fully completed the book.  I started Level 1 August 2007 and completed it the spring of 2008, completed two lessons in Level 2, and had a break for the 2008 summer.  I resumed classes in the Level 2 book in August of 2008 and completed the book last night.  I have two more classes this month starting Level 3 and will begin again August 2009 and I hope to finish this book spring 2010.

During my summer breaks I work on my ear.
Am I nosey or what?

berbie

Naw, I wouldn't call you nosey, you are just making me talk a little more by asking questions. :D :D :D

Congratulations!

At this point I would suggest that you broaden your horizons past the method books. Try some "Easy Piano" sheet music. You could probably play the top melody line, the one with the words. Look for no/1-2 sharps/flats key signatures - and the fewer notes on the page, the better, for right now. If the music has more than one note at a time (like in Hymnals) you could just do the top notes to get you started.

Alfred has supplemental books available - also check out FJH Music, which has some simplified Hymns....
