Hey LGM, a lot of people have been wanting to play this song. I got a chance to listen to and what I'm gonna do is offer some help by showing the pattern of the song.
It's starts off with the traditional preaching chords using 3-4-#4-5, then does a 6-2-5-1 and repeats the preaching chords. A lot of the bass runs in btween are either a 1/2 step higher or lower than the ones from the pattern:
Key Gb
Bb / Bb-Db-Gb (3)
Cb / Cb-Eb-Gb (4)
C / A-C-Eb-Gb (#4)
Db / Bb-Db-Gb (5)
D /
Eb / G-Cb-Db-Gb (6)
A /
Ab / C-Eb-Gb-A (2)
C /
Db / Cb-Eb-Gb (5)
Gb / Bb-Db-Gb (1)
then repeat them first 4 chords and add an ending 5 as the turnaround:
Bb / Bb-Db-Gb (3)
Cb / Cb-Eb-Gb (4)
C / A-C-Eb-Gb (#4)
Db / Bb-Db-Gb (5)
Db / Cb-Db-G-A (5)
Now, u got you some preacher chords you can use, LOL. Anyways, the next part of the song is 1 for a while, 2-5, 1-5-1-4-#4, then ends with 5-6-2-5-1 & turnaround from the intro:
It's your
Gb / Bb-Db-Gb (1) season to be blessed, God made you a promise
*while you're on the 1, the CD does a little bass line and alternates 1 and 4 chords
Gb, Bb, Db, Eb / Bb-Db-Gb, Cb-Eb-Gb
Ab / C-Eb-Gb-Bb (2) and you stood the
Db / Db-F-Ab (5) test,
Ab / C-Eb-Gb-Bb (2)
Db / Db-F-Ab (5) He's gonna open a
Gb / Bb-Db-Gb (1) window
Db / Cb-Fb-Ab (5) and
Gb / Bb-Db-Gb (1) pour you out a
Cb / Gb-Cb-Eb (4) blessing,
C / A-C-Eb-Gb (#4) it's your
Db / Bb-Db-Gb (5) sea-
D /
Eb / G-Cb-Db-Gb (6) son
A /
Ab / C-Eb-Gb-A (2)
C /
Db / Cb-Eb-Gb (5) to be
Gb / Bb-Db-Gb (1) blessed.
turnaround:
Bb / Bb-Db-Gb (3)
Cb / Cb-Eb-Gb (4)
C / A-C-Eb-Gb (#4)
Db / Bb-Db-Gb (5)
Db / Cb-Db-G-A (5)
See there? Not too hard at all once u know the pattern of the song. That's about 90% of the song right there, even the verse. Then, towards the middle they do a little bridge type thing that's just 3-6-2-5. Then, they do a little 6-#6-7-1 walk-up into the vamp which is a 1-4:
it's your
Bb / Ab-Db-F (3) sea-
Eb / G-Cb-Db-Gb (6) son,
Ab / Cb-Eb-Gb (2)
Db / Cb-Eb-Gb (5) it's your...
(repeat a few times)
Eb / Db-G-C-Eb (6)
E / D-G#-C#-E (#6) it's
F / Eb-A-D-F (7) your
Vamp:
Gb / Bb-Db-Fb-Gb (1) season,
Ab, A, Bb /
Cb / A-Db-Eb-Gb (4) it's your...
Eb, E, F /
(repeat)
Then it goes back to the beginning chords and ends. Like I said before, it's not too hard. It sounds more complicated than it is. This is how a lot of those old Congregational songs are formed. I know all the instruments and bass runs sound hard, but u can play it as simple as u want.
Please, I hope all of you struggling musicians take the time to apply what you learned here to other songs like this. Don't just steal the chords cuz that won't help you in the long run. It will take lots of effort on your part at first, but after a few times it gets easier and easier until the process becomes second nature to you.
