Wow, that is a very good video and it did give me food for thought. I can play in all keys but of course some keys are more comfortable for me than others. What really hit home for me was the part on reading music. I used to delude myself that i could read music, but all i can do is recognize the notes on the staff. I am just now trying to learn to read properly. Its tough but rewarding.
The car, job, house wife/husband are not the reward, God is.

That's the part that got me too.

If you go to Sam Ash there are TONS of jazz books, transcriptions of awesome performances/albums, and teaching aids that I can't access because I can't read music.  I, too, deluded myself.  I told myself that gospel musicians don't need to know how to read music.  I knew that was a cop out.  I have a few books at home that teach reading.  I'm going to get on that ASAP.

If you wanna sharpen your reading skills and you happen to have an iPod or iPod Touch, there's an app called "Mozart" that you can purchase. It's like $9.00 bucks. It's REALLY helpful.

This video is a wake up call. I know how to read music, but I'm not very fluent in it. I need to kick it up.

Wow. That vid hits hard. I know how to read music well and stuff(thank you classical training xD) and i'm not too guilty of using the transpose function(I use it on occasion when I don't have the time to really think about the chord transposition. But this occurs very very rarely). But when he got to the theory. What is a German 6th? I'm assuming that its a variant of the augmented sixth? Someone Wanna explain.

And apparently I need to get back into my theory studies xD.
