You should Mic it though the House speakers. Just put a mic in front of the amp.

Or you can get the Roland KC-550 for a cool $600

Cosign! We use those amps in church and yes, they are expensive but TOTALLY worth it. Just mic 'em and you should be fine.

You can also run it through the house altogether - go straight to the mixer.

as long as he has a good monitor, thats a great idea, Thats what we do.

At my old church we used an amp for the monitor, and ran it to the mixer as well.

I have a Roland KC550 and overall it's a good amp.  The larger Peavey is also pretty darn good.  It's the KB5.  I almost bought one but opted for the Roland because just about everybody has one.

Yeah, I really like the KC. My friend has 2 of them in his tiny "studio", its way more than he needs, but they sound amazing in stereo

The KC isn't really known for great sound quality but it's a workhorse.

Whats gives better sound quality? Studio monitors?

The best sound I've had was running the keys into a DI box and listening through a good stage monitor.  The only down side to that is being at the mercy of the sound person.  I'm not downing the KC amps, just saying the sound isn't great.

I go through the house and use a 15 watt fender amp to monitor myself. As far as amps go though I like the Behringer series, a lot cheaper than Roland and in my opinion they sound much better.

I have a Roland KC 550 and I love it to death. I haven't used it on months cause I been using my Behringer KX1200 recently. I rather have the KC only because it has wheels and my KV1200 don't. Makes a difference when you have a bad back LOL.

I don't think I'd use a Behringer amp on a gig unless I had a backup amp.

So, are speakers better amps if you can afford them?

Also, I was speaking with this guy about amps and he recommended Barbetta amps as opposed to Peavey and Roland (He referred to these as cheap amps with poor sound quality).

Yeah I know they tend to have quality control issues but I've had mine since Christmas and no problems.
