So by that token then, would it be kind of like a poor man's sub-kick?  Or at least along those lines?

I wouldn't call it a "poor man's Subkick" - one requres phantom power to enhance the low end of the bass drum and the other just operates without the need for amplification to do the same task that the Subkick does.  This is just based on my observation from the referneced website.

Correct me if I am wrong, BEATBOXERZ.

The concept would yield the same results as utilizing a Woofer, however, the Kickport would enhance the low end of the Hz spectrum.

That's what I was wondering. I just wanted to make sure I was understanding the theory behind it correctly.  Thanks for the clarification fam.

That's correct J. It's brings out the low end. The tube on the Kickport acts like a speaker cone and directed the air pressure through the cone which amplifies the low frequency without electricity; kinda like a megaphone. It's not all bulky like the Yamaha subkick and a whole look cheaper. It's alot more portable; you can pull it you and use where ever there's a kit with a 5"/5.5" mic vent.

I got in right after my post above. The seventh time was a charm, LOL. I can see this working out well in an unmic'd poorly mic'd situation. I wonder how it does in a double mic'd situation with an internal and an exterior. I guess when we here the Dennis clips we'll know unless someone on LGM experiments first.

I'll do my best to get a clip up for the fam. I have been using it for a few weeks now and it's works so well without a mic. I haven't mic it yet, but I only can imagine what it sounds like...
I have a dvd recording next month and will be using it for sure. Stay tuned...

This product is awesome! I heard it first hand at NAMM. For $40.00, it's a great tool for any drummer or engineer to have to get a good beefy drum sound.
