well me being a beginner myself all the information can get overwhelming out there. I'll just tell you how I have been going about learning. First I learned my major and minor scales, then i learned how to form basic chords off of the major and minor scales, then i started learning how to form other chords like the augmented and the diminished the add9 and chords like that. Once I did that in every key I knew about 20 chords for each note on the keyboard so i started learning how to fit all of them together as in reading up on theory seeing which chords usually follow each other and started learning how to form progressions now i feel like because i have the basics down i can tackle songs a little easier now. That's how far i have gotten on my playing i am far from a expert really I'm far from being intermediate but i feel like I'm headed in the right direction if you search around this site there is a lot of good information as a matter of fact i cant remember the exact post but t-block posted a article that had links to different articles all around the site about basic theory and forming chords and progressions it was good because it brought a lot of information to one spot if anybody knows what im talking about maybe you can post a link. but like I say I am a beginner and this is just the route I'm taking to try and better myself on the keys you might find a different route that's easier for you. but im rambling now so ill holla at cha later hope i helped
