Piano-Free Excersises...
« on: December 13, 2008, 06:03:24 PM »
Does anyone have any special exercises you do when you're away from the Piano (or Guitar, Drum, etc.) to build Finger Strength, Finger Speed, or any other part of your hand? Just something you do when you're bored or just sitting idly with no instrument around?

For me, I discovered this little chinese-like ball that was sent to my brother in the mail. It's a ball made of yarn on the exterior and what I'm guessing are beads inside. It reminded me of a piece of advice someone gave me a while ago about squeezing the ball when you're bored or just sitting around in order to build up finger strength, wrist flexibility, and curve. I just found the ball today so I can't attest to any results just yet, but it seems like it should have SOME sort of positive impact.

Anywho, that's just something I started doing. Anyone else have any Piano-Free Exercises?

There is something called a Grip-master:

I've never used it, but i know some folks who swear by it. Its more for guitar or bass purposes though.
The car, job, house wife/husband are not the reward, God is.

I stretch my fingers as far as they will go in all directions.

My hands are pretty strong.

Try this, with or w/o keys;scales-but try playing in 4s.In C; CDEF GABC;have played with metros, cliks;but I noticed recently it was 123-12345  instead of 4+4 ;had a little gap ,was "in -time" with the meter but still not '"right".Try playing scales over a drum groove;see what i mean.
