I'm working on some web design, and I can't figure out which of these two color schemes I like best. I'm going for something real dark and almost menacing. Which do you all think looks better? The black and white layout with subtle maroon color accents? Or the layout with bold maroon color accents? (Don't mind the titles and text. I was just making up random stuff to fill in blank spaces.)

They look the same to me ... but then again I struck out on your previous question.

I have an attachment to #1, but I think more people will go for #2 I just like the small hints of #1 rather than the overt hints of #2. But #2 is more systematic and professional. I'm torn. And I can't really proceed with the design until I pick one. $:-\$

My head was saying #2, but my heart was saying #1. I went with my heart, but I revamped it a bit to add more color. Also added the final logo and a dummy ad banner (you'll have to maximize your screen to see the full image).

I started with a template, but used my (limited) HTML and graphic design skills to build it into something I liked. The graphics were all made with Pixelmator. As you can see, it's simply text. Something clean. The stuff you see on the side is straight HTML coding. I also used some Wordpress widgets.

They just released a Live album called "A Creation Liturgy". Good stuff. Beautiful Things is their best, IMO.
