I echo that sentiment.
By the way, Ness, what you just posted in that other thread is EXACTLY what I JUST got finished studying!
LOL, we're in the spirit on today!
For real, though. There's this really young guy that was preaching at my church this week, and he talked about how we thumb our noses at certain people, if the pastor preaches something we've heard before or if we feel the word is cliche or whatever, but he said, "If you're preaching from the bible, I'm on the edge of my seat! If it's about my God, my Savior, I'm soaking it all up!" He said we have to come as a little child... and then gave the example of taking his own child to the County Fair every year. He gets tired of going, because it's the same EVERY. YEAR. But his kid sees the Ferris Wheel and lights up. The whole thing is new to him all over again. His excitement is fresh as though he'd never been there before. That really hit me hard.
I started to think, what if God is looking at our reaction to being in his service with the saints and judging their level and ability to share the Word, song, or whatever when we owe him praise regardless. We should respond to him being glorified or talked about just because it's him. I had to repent. He also talked about how we've gotten so particular about the music or the preaching style, that if someone is not on it as far as key and note, etc., we become too distracted to worship and magnify God. He said the old saints would be in the wrong key or making up words, but the power of God was so strong the church barely noticed. Now we put such a demand on the music being perfect, that he person with the most skill is sought after in the church, even if they have no anointing. Same with preachers. The most eloquent and profound is sought after, even if they don't love the Lord.
Okay, I done ran with that one, lol. It's been marinating in my spirit for a few days...
