Sorry, another question?
« on: September 13, 2008, 05:04:33 AM »
I have a question? Again I am trying to understand theory in great detail

1.  The melody, of all songs, I was wondering is usually the note of the sopranos singing the song or does it vary?

2.  For determining the bass note or melody line, could i follow the EGBDF , FACE as written on the a staff ?

1.)oftentimes the melody will be the soprano, but it does vary, especially when the lead singer is not a soprano

I'm not quite sure what u looking for here, but determining the bass note or melody really has nothing to do with the staff.  If u listening to a CD, u have to listen for those specific notes.  If u coming up with something yourself, just hum what u want and find it on the piano.

Once u get the notes u want, if u want to put the notes on sheet music, then u need to know what notes on the staff correspond to what notes on the piano.
Real musicians play in every key!!!

Think of it like this: if the congregation were to sing a song in unison, the melody is what you'd hear.
