Basic & Simple Chord progressions
« on: August 02, 2008, 09:11:27 PM »

Ok.  So I have this book that I have been using to help me expand my chord progressions and include different styles.  I'm going to make a list and give examples of them straight from the book to share with you all.  Don't feel restricted to playing the voicings I illustrate.  Change'em up as you see fit.

I V7 - Key of C

C / C E G
G / G B D F

I IV V7 - Key of C

C / C E G
F / F A C
G / G B D F

I V7 IV - Key of G

G / G B D
D / F# A C
C / C E G

I II7 V7 I  -  Key of C

C / C E G
D / D F# A C
G / G B D F
C / C E G

I ii V7 I - Key of D

D / D F# A
E / E G B
A / A C# E G
D / D F# A

I vi  -  Key of A (Major to Relative Minor)

A / A C# E
F# / F# A C#

i IV - Key of Am

A / A C E
D / D F# A

I bVII I  - Key of F

F / F A C
Eb / Eb G Bb
F / F A C

i bVII i  -  Key of Dm

D / D F A
G / G Bb D
F / F A C

Ok.....so now I will list just the Roman Numerals for remaining progressions.

I vi IV V I  or  I vi ii7 V7 I

i v i

i bIII

I ii iii IV

i iv V7 i

I vi ii iii IV

i bVII b VI V7 i

I I7 IV IV7 I V7 IV I

I I7 IV iv I V7 I

I I#° ii7 V7 I

I III7 IV

I VI7 II7 V7 I

III7 vi7 II7 V7 I

VI7 II7 V7 I

I7 IV7

And that concludes it.  Just mess around with these and try to mix them up with your playing.  Hope this helps some of ya'll out!
