I wonder how soon is soon before I purchase this one? Will it cover the number system too? If not then i guess the play by ear is still very essential and the church service dvd will build on it.

Well by the time you get to the church service one, you should be able to play using the number system.

Yea the Church Service one incorporates the number system and all traditional stuff. No urban, no R&Bish, no Neo-Soul, no jazz....Traditional devotional service type chords. But remember when it comes to churchy stuff, it's not really a number system, but it's more bass line walks and right hand chords, but yes it'll cover the main gospelly and devotional service type stuff.

It's pretty much like the Play by Ear, but it focuses on churchy minorish (Minor 9's Minor 13th) type chords.

Oh why, oh why...I knowwww! To be honest, 4-5 years ago, I didn't have the knowledge and the command of the material like I do now. I have to admit, it's my best DVD to date as far as instruction.

Thanks jjbing3 for the purchase. Just a heads-up, I have another DVD coming out very soon about Church Service Chords. The Play by Ear is for more praise and worship, but the new DVD is for good old fashion church service.

HURRY UP WITH THAT DVD SIR!!!!  PLEASE.

To answer your question about what to purchase I will tell you waht helped me.

I never had a lesson I actually went to the music store, purchased a triton Extreme and then it sat there for like 2 years.  Finally I purchased Jamals urban worhsip Contemporary and studied that, then I purchased Extreme and studied that.  I then purchased Gospel Keys 202, Jamal's learn by ear and almost all of jamal's DVD's except his last one.

I have like 2 series os Gospel Keys.  202 and 300.

I say get them all.  The first one should be 202.  He breaks down chords and how to play in C#.  Once you grasp that get 300 because thats the style of music you will play at your church. From there the sky is the limit.  Learn theory most of all.  If you learn theory you will be playing better in no time. Also here is a link for your scales and chords.  www.chordhouse.com/piano

Good luck!
