Played During Sunday Morning Service
« on: June 19, 2008, 11:02:00 AM »
So I finally got up enough courage to play during service.  Never before played in front of anybody!  Always at home in my room.  I have been playing for about 6 months.  Not a lesson or anything.  I heard YES by shekinah glory and I saw it is in F#.  I said well those chords sound alot like C# which I can play in.  SO I olayed with it a little and got the melody down.  The song is awesome.

So the organist was ministering during the alter call.  The other organist was doing something and I saw the service was kind of going down some because of no music.  I said well let's try it.

Walked up their and could barely hit the Eb because I was shaking so much.  I said to myself whay am I nervous I know I can play the song.

Once I settled in I ripped it.  The annointing was all over the song.  The Pastor (my father in law) felt like talking after that.  I must have played it for like 10-20 minutes.

Evevryone was like what song is that?  They thought I made it up.

I know it's a real easy song but for my first time I killed it.  I have the tape maybe I will make it an mp3 at my studio and upload it.

God Bless!

Congratulations man!!!!!

I know how you feel. I started playing for my church barely three months and i was SO nervous the first time. My hands were shaking and my knees were knocking. However it went to sell. Folks were like "You rocked the church man!!" It is the best feeling in the world IMO. I still get nervous though, but less and less as the months go by.

That is simply awesome. I hope you get the chance to play more and more. You will start to improve a lot.

Congrats again man.

Thanks Man!

I was so nervous!  I was holding the sustain pedal and forgetting to release it in the begining.  LOL!  I enjoyed i though.  Especially when everyone was commenting at the end.  It made me want to practice more.

Hey man, taking me back a few months when I played for the very 1st time at church..
It was the exact same experience for me ;D

Happened quite a few times, still happens bcos I still haven't settled in as the main player bcos some people still don't think some1 in their midst can just rock up & play when they've never played b4 all these years.
So when they bring some1 in, I ask if I can back, if no, I carry out my other tasks & try to enjoy the service.

Thanks Man!

That's the way man..cherish the appreciation & use it to your advantage..You better practice so that U present yourself approved of your musicianship :)

I wish you well in your journey :)

Congrats....."bullet1"....I know that going up to play during a service can make you a little nervous and shaky, I still get a little shaky when going to play and I've been playing for years now.

Stay Blessed & keep on playing for the Lord.

I love it now.  In my hey day I was a pretty acomplished basketball player, but now that i'm older with a knee injury I had to find a new love.  I have always loved music and wanted to play piano.  I mean nothing feels better than playing for God.  Not the best basketball game or the best move.

Thanks for the encouragment.  You guys are the best!  I thank God everyday for this board and the things you'll have done in my life.

I feel like testifying!!!

Hya!  Shondo!!!
