Check out this traditional Female Gospel Pianist

This is a lady from my church. She is known for her "wild playing", But she kept it on the mellow tip today. :'( I was hoping she would let loose (as long as she didnt break any keys). It would be longer but my battery died.

Morning man.

Two questions;

1) Can you find out what settings you guys have for your Motif. It sounds very well balanced. The lows are not too low and the highs are perfect.

2) Why do i even bother playing?

She was using the concert grand. I dont think it had to do with settings, but her touch. She knows how to hit those notes just right. I'm actually suprised that the speaker sounded good that day. its a cheap speaker, and it usually distorts like crazy.

Man you hit the nail on the head. It's technique that these classical guys have over us not-so-classical guys. I took a classical piano course in school and it is fascinating what they teach you. Things like how to use the pedal correctly and correct placement of fingers and hands, even how to properly hit the keys.

Thats why i am getting a teacher man. I need to hone technique, not just chords and stuff.

I need to find a teacher and start doing classical stuff again. There is definitly a big difference in the guys who have studied classicaly.

Find one as soon as you can man. I found a teacher who is focused on sight reading and theory as it applies to guitar and piano so i will be getting both. I am really excited at this. It costs a pretty penny but i ain't married and i can afford it.

You can always tell when someone is classically trained AND has the benefit of being able to play those "phat" chords and whatnot. Their sound will be pure, their technique perfect.

One of the biggest reasons i am even getting a teacher is so i can meet other musicians and see other influences.

I thought she was going to hurt a finger racking thoses keys like that.  :)

I was hoping she wouldnt hurt the keys! She once played this on dudes piano, and he told her to calm down. When they used to let her play in church, she would never end the song. She'd be playing her solo for hours if nobody went up there to stop her. I wont even mention the time she tried to play the organ.........
