Musician Block
« on: June 07, 2008, 09:24:50 AM »
I got a Musician Block Similar to Writers Block. What I means is I am second guessing myself on chords. Also, I forgot about 70 to 80 percent of my chords. My timing is off real bad, and it seems that I have hit a ceiling. Can anyone help me please.

thank you

Yeah this happens to me from time to time. For some odd reason i will have completely forgotten the chords to a song i have played OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

I suggest you take some time off the keys. Thats what i did. I took time off, started doing other stuff and then later come back to it. Are you under stress?

Wow jjjoe!!
I can feel the burden on your shoulders man..
Like Fenix said..but in your case, you can't just take a break on keys. So try learning stuff you've never imagined yourself playing (eg, country or latin music..) I'm sure as you play those, your brain & fingers will remember the old patterns it is used to & you will find that you can still play some of that old stuff..

I'm with you in prayer man in this challenging time in your life..

Also it seems like 85% of the people at the church going in and out well out of the church and it just seem it be including myself like 5 to 7 people there my music staff is depleted to just me and once awhile my drummer but he is the same way. I don't know what to do. I am trying to encourage my church but it seems depressing

Well i think i understand how you feel. I will say this, take it to God in prayer. Don't worry about the folks who are coming and going. You just be faithful to God, be faithful to your church, keep praying, keep playing.

At yesterday night's prayer meeting we prayed for folks who are in any kind of leadership position. We prayed that God will watch over them and encourage them and i am sure it extends to you.

Do what Mus said and learn new stuff. Do not try and play very complex songs at this point and make sure that the songs touch God and not the people. If true worship comes from your heart, the people who are sensitive to God will respond and ya'll will have a blast praing and singing to God.

Take Fenix's words to heart & you will not be disappointed my friend..
See, even Fenix is praying for you..

It is very difficult to please people--if you try to do it for them, they might not give you the response you expect to get--that's because they are not aware or couldn't care less about the effort you put in.
But God--He knows really how much you desire to please Him..& you will be at peace & experience the Joy that Romans 14:17 speaks of, whether you get a positive response or none from the audience..
But you might just get responses you never expected when you dedicate it all to God & forget about the people (inasmuch as they might be entertained by it)..Trust me, I saw this this past week..If I had been doing it for the people, I would have vowed never to offer to play at a church setting--But because God is a God of Principle, He will refine you & reward you my friend..
Be encouraged :)

That is good preaching right there man. Good preaching. Go on now wich'ya white suit.

Sometimes I want to cry but I am trying to be very strong and my strength is still alittle strong but my family is hurt too and it seems everybody is against you its ruff

I pray God will encourage you and your family. Another prayer we prayed was for God's help. It may seem like a mundane prayer, but trust me, folk were all over the floor crying out and such. I couldn't even stand. We need God's help in this thing called life. We need his help in this thing called ministry. He didn't call us to do it alone, we have a helper in the Holy Ghost. I pray you take comfort in that.

Man look, let people leave your church. You just make sure your heart is right before God and He will direct your path. No doubting that man.

i FEEL you man..& it's not good if even your family has to bear the brunt..

I advise you to take some "time-out" & just cry..cry to God ..sometimes you need to communicate with Him by crying..Your crying will not be in vain in that way.
Crying is a language God understands..so cry before Him man..disregard any1 around U & cry...listen to Him..

I'm praying with you man..

Man that is what the family of God is for. We are told to confess our faults one to another. If you don't tell the saints, who can you tell? Nothing is done by coincidence and God knows and see all.

We all go through stuff man. The Family is always here for you.

On a side note- "The Family" sounds like some mafia stuff. :)

Well Jjjoe, U know the fam is always there 4 U, especially Fenix..
There'll even be others who didn't type a thing here but went straight to God in prayer..So rest assured that God will answer you in due time..

On the twist, there might be no answers--in that case, you will be the playing field like Job was..so just pray for God to give you strength to remain faithful no matter what..Remember that you are crucified with Him...(Gal.5:25-6)

we love you man.. :)

Hey Fenix, I'm so proud'a you, that you can be so comforting, excpt that you had to say something silly to mar your record  :D ..that mafia stuff :P :D

Just keep your eyes on Jesus!  Do not focus on the things that are going on around you.  Pray and mediate on the WORD.  Remember who called you.  Remember who is going to reward you.  Keep your eyes on your crown.  You have to keep your JOY.  The joy that comes with serving the LORD!  And the joy that comes with being a servant the LORD!

Read Jude 24.
And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;  Colossians 3:23

I hope I am not being a wimp by all of this about telling you my problems.

Actually, what u are is quite the opposite.  It takes a strong man to ask for help with problems he is struggling with.  You are not supposed to handle it alone, u are supposed to seek support.  Sometimes, getting it out of your system will give u the relief u looking for.

I know myself I usually hold things in until it manifests itself in a very negative manner.  I'm learning to open up more and tell people what's going on wit me.  I haven't quite gotten to the stage where I can cry outloud, LOL, but one day I may get there.

Also, some most times in a ministry, God has to "clean house".  Meaning, he has to get some people out da way in order for the right people to come in.  So, just think of this as spiritual house cleaning.  It's rought at first cuz it's gonna feel empty, but just hang in there and u will see things come together the way God wants it, not necessarily the way you want it.  I'm praying 4 u my brother!!!
