Question for organists an keyboardists.....
« on: May 28, 2008, 01:15:15 PM »
I was reading through the drum forum and I came across a post that asked was anybody on the forum endorsed or sponsored by a company. So I was actually asking is anybody in this section endorsed by any company rather being major or minor? And if so, how did you or that person go about getting it?

Don't know if this has already been posted in here but, if so please disregard!!!!!!!

I dont think there are to many companies that sponsor keyboadist. We have enough sense not to buy something, just because So and So uses it.

I've come across a guy or 2 who are sponsored/ who are asked to try out boards..
Sme it's by a particular brand, & others its by all the different brands.
But I have no idea what it took for them to get such offers..

1 thing I do know for sure is that it has to be an influential figure (like how Stevie Wonder was asked to demonstrate his skills on the Motif XS when it launched -I'm sure they gave him 1 afterwards!-)

I don't know if SoundofJoy is sponsored by Casio :P :-\, but you can PM him & ask / direct him to this thread.

LOL.

I know Joey Defranseco was/is? sposored by Hammond-Suzuki. But I think he has ownership in Diversi organs now.

Many times when you see bands on TV, they have the name of the keyboard covered up

On the syndicated and network TV shows, every logo that it is possible to cover over is covered unless the owner of that logo pays in some manner for the display of the logo.
Generally, it is not up to the band themselves, it is controlled by the production company. Having said that, there are also a lot of pro musicians who will cover logos themselves if they didn't get at least some sort of discount on the product.

(I feel that way about wearing clothes with logos, unless the clothing was a gift - why should I spend my money for a shirt that promotes someone else's brand).

The Casio deal dissappeared like 2007. They were suppose to contact me after the NAMM Show. Haven't heard from them.
I love music, any kind of music.

Keyboard endorsements don't come that easy unless you are on a major ticket. I think Korg and Diversi have sponsored musicians that were not playing for super gigs. In order to get a Roland (Israel Houghton and New Breed) or especially a Yamaha (Fred Hammond, Ce Ce Winans) endorsement you have to be putting in some serious work with some very visible artist.

I tried to get an endorsement with MOTU and I was told that at the moment they did not have a program for that at the moment, but I did get a contact number.
