Maybe You've been here...
« on: May 26, 2008, 05:42:46 PM »
hey how you doing folks ?? I know u're doing a Lovely job with your churches. I pray. Some have helped u along the way in this field, plus prayer is the key ( especially when God heard u the 1st time ) and that's a wonderful thing when with the public, the Church public.

OK here's what happened :

I have a young choir that thinks they r the ONLY 1 to bring the house down in this Church. they're actions are WAY louder than their words. Many problems with commitment, responsibility, etc. basically they wanted new songs which they have, and then they're absent when time to Sing them. They go with families to amusement parks on their REQUIRED Sunday, morning or evening, revivals, etc. the president & I have gone BEYOND the call of duty to make this work. 2 months of this ok ?? I am angry right now, and want to raise on them, and when i do I'm gonna get more excuses, ugly responses, boycotting, etc. Then the Chairman and board will say, "he didn' keep the choir going, so no more choir, no more "correct" check amount". Jobs are scarce now, and can't really leave unless i have something. The pastor is aware of it, can't really do much, cuz they'll call the bishop and get him removed. He has NO 9-5 !! Anyone been there ? if so, what's the best move on this please ?

Are they all like this, or just some? Try concentrating your efforts on the more responsible ones...

N the AME Zion they're ALL like this... wearing their feelings, and when touching on the problems, they ready to fight, cuz that's their specialty

Find a 9-5, quick!!
Despite our communication technology, no invention is as effective as the sound of the human voice.

I think most MOMs has been there at least once. Just work with the faithful ones.
Realize that you can't make anyone do anything; if you did force them, they wouldn't put forth their best effort.
Also, sounds like you're working with teens - they still have short attention spans and do not fully understand responsibility.
Some MOMs enforce a "no-show/ no-sing" policy (I don't). You might want to consider that.

It sounds like the choir thinks that they are theonly game in town and they have the wrong spirit about what they are doing.
Maybe it is time to sit down with your Pastor (if its not you) and tell him like it is (about the choir). Then ask to conduct a meeting with all of the members. Let the pastor call the meeting if he is willing. When you have your meeting everyone should be there. The question to ask at the meeting is why are they there, what is the purpose of the choir, what is their purpose for being in the choir. These questions shoul at the very least should be asked. The bottom line is this, if they dont want to be a part for the right reasons, God will send some people that will. Have a plan for your meeting. Expect the unexpected (some may want to leave the choir). Make sure you start praying and fasting before your meeting(its a powerful thing). And if you do not have some sort of guidelines in place, you might want to put them in place-written. Encourage your Pastor to attend and possibly the head Deacon. They need to see first hand what is going on. As I said before, pray....did I say pray? Yes pray. May the Lord bless you and keep you.

Times is different in hiring again, not just N Detroit. C what u don' get is this denomination is different. God is a wonder tho, He'll do just want He says. aren't u glad ?   ;D
