??????? this is where i get confused......i was going over the c major scale & i noticed that you pointed out the scale degree chords and then the major chords (1-3 -5).........when i run through my scales i always just played major chords....whats the difference between a scale degree chord and a major chord? plz excuse me.....i'm still pre-k.
Don't get it confused..."major chords" and "chords built off the major scale degrees" are not the same thing...
ex., just going up the C major scale
C-E-G = CMaj
D-F#-A = DMaj
E-G#-B = EMaj
F-A-C = FMaj
G-B-D = GMaj
A-C#-E = AMaj
B-D#-F# = BMaj
back to CMaj...the intervals for the Maj Chord are the same on the black keys...ie., Db, Gb, Ab, Bb
When he is talking Maj scale degree chords within a "Maj scale"...he is saying...
...the C maj scale/each degree/note = C - D - E - F - G - A - B - back to C...the degrees normally have a chord pattern associated with the maj scale, however it's different for Minor scales...
In Major...ex., below, talking major scale degree chords
Maj - min - min - Maj...etc.,
C-E-G = CMaj
D-F-A = Dmin
E-G-B = Emin
F-A-C = FMaj
etc.,
