Temejo1 & The Alabama Jurisdiction One COGIC Choir

Here's a recording of Alabama Jurisdiction One COGIC Choir with yours truly directing "Take Up Your Cross." This was done this past Monday in our Spring Workers Meeting in Birmingham. And yes, I absolutely HATE red and the video camera!!!



NOTE: We are working on another CD this year. It's time to do our Junior CD. You know us from "My Soul Got Another Dip" and "The Bridegroom is Coming"!

Hey Hey!!!!


I  thought it was a great song.   Looks like  everyone came through.   Weren't you worried about folks  not showing up to rehearsal?

So how does that work  in a "district" choir?

By the way.   My wife is from sylacauga AL, I'm from Atl,   We both went to Auburn....... but we live in Boise ID now  ::)

Two totally different events...LOL. This is our state recording choir at our Spring Workers' Meeting going on this week in B'ham. The other event was district choir rehearsal...NO ONE showed up!! But, it was cool though. What does "what" work in a district choir?

Auburn??? Ewwweeeeee...nothing but Roll Tide here! LOL

And Here I am thinking we was gonna be cool.   No need to be bitter at those spankings Auburn  been putting on yall  regularly  ;D

I'm trying to figure out how you ( as choir director) handle the logistics of  being a district  director.   How do you contact musicians , get them music( sheet, cd, etc), how do you select  vocal leads, etc etc.

Its hard enough keeping up with the folks in my own church,  let alone  the entire district. ( I realize that your denomination does this all the time.....   but it still boggles my mind  how its  done).

You be a district choir just like the local.  The main difference is that you have more people to deal with. In my case, I contact the local presidents for them to relay messages to their choir members. I send the music to the presidents for them to give it to the musicians. I rely on the presidents to tell me all of their choir information. I also let different people lead songs in case one (the best) is not there. Believe me...it takes patience. I'm soooo glad I'm not on the state level.

Thanks everyone. The state minister of music told my dad (district superintendent) that I showed them a part of me that they didn't know. Now I'll never get rest!!!  :-\  But, it's a good thing.

Although I'm just 38, I still have an old-school flare!! The new stuff is cool, but the old stuff is everlasting!

As for the splits...I only do those when necessary...  :D ;) :D ;)

I absolutely loved the song, and your directing was nice!

Speaking of jurisdictional choirs, I'm not sure if you know this, but does anybody know who makes up the C.H. Mason Memorial Choir?  The choir that sings at the convocation...is it just Memphis people, or people from all over?
