What features to you tend to look for in a keyboard?

What mad you "fall in love" (not like the Effiel Tower chick.  Lol)   with your current board(s)

i)  Multiple sounds.
ii) more than 70 keys, yet provides ease of mobility.
iii) Headphone jack , jack-in & jack out.
iv) touch sensitive or weighted keys.
v) Good organ sounds & horns/ brass section.
vi) USB connectivity & user tone extendability.
vii) Storage banks & sequencer (although my board lacks a bit there )
viii) Effects.
ix) Pitch bend & modulation features.
x) reliability.
xi) Affordability ,compared to boards with similar features.
xii) For my 1st board, I also had to ensure that it had on board speakers because I don't have an amp & a good set of speakers yet.

That's what I assessed before opting for the Casio wk3800..

Lately, I gig more than anything so I look for features that are good for live performances such as;

Lightweight
Easy to split the keyboard
Can store favorites for sounds I use often
Good piano, rhodes, organ, strings, brass, and synths
Good realtime controls for doing filter sweeps, modulation, etc
I haven't put my Juno-G through its paces completely, but it meets most of those needs for an aux board.  The only thing I really dislike about it is the key feel and the touch sensitivity it's either too light or too heavy, nothing in between.

I cannot stand my current board. If i was a naturally violent person, i would look for someone i dislike and shove the board up their...you get the point.   

I need a board with a very good piano sound. The strings have to be good also and a decent EP sound. I'm looking to buy a MO6 or MMX.

Yep, that's 1 feature that's very essential: easy layering & splitting..

From what I've seen, layering is fairly easy.  I haven't tried to split it yet but I have a show coming up in a couple weeks and I'll need to split the board as well as have a patch with multiple samples in it assigned to various keys.

Yeah, I'll have to do that soon.  I didn't even mention incorporating a Yamaha breath controller into the works.  I have this thing about using the equipment to its full potential.

That's why I don't see myself buying a Motif XS or anything of that sort unless if I'm sure I'll be using all it's features to maximum benefit at 1 point or another.

Unless i reach a certain level of proficiency, i am definitely not buying a Motif XS for my own personal use. For now, my PSR is manageable.

I am seriously looking for another board. I want a weighted board but my budget is really tight. I don't even mind a weightless on but i am really not sure what board will give me decent sounds and is relatively cheap ($399- $500)

61 or 76 keys?

If 76 keys, trust me, the best deal is the Casio wk3800..
But maybe you could find some Yam with a cool piano & take it purely on that premise.
If it's 61 keys, we can help a brother do some shopping around

Beggars can't be choosers The man only has $500 budgeted..I'm sure a Mo7 would go for more than that.

in that price range, I'd go with a used MO6 or a triton 61. An XP-80 might also be nice
