...yeah man.  The goals are needed.

...one thing I learned from Derico Watson and Christopher Coleman is to always have a Drum Journal.  That way you know where you stand and you can move from or go back to. ;)

I shall be your teacher...

Go out and buy the heaviest sticks on the market. Once you're able to play singles and doubles, leading with either hand, at 18000 bpm - return to me, for phase 2.

To develop foot control, I would like for you to unhook the spring. Until you're unable to control the beater, you will have to pull it off of the head. In any case, I want you to work on 64th note triplets w/ an inverted ratama-diddle flama-cue, accenting on every other stroke.

When you have mastered this regimen, return to me...

...I'm sure we'll be able to find some work for you in a traveling freak-show.

I practice 5 - 9 hours everday.

Cut it in half and focus on Mastery. if you cannot leave an exercise and come back to it and play it just as well or better then you have not Mastered it. If it does not naturally bleed into your playing without thinking then you have not absorbed it into ownership. It is a proven fact that small interval workouts allow for better/higher intensity focus and yields better results.

Personally, 4hr practices make me feel great and I develop well in this. However, time is at a premium and I have found more discovery in the shorter bursts of staying with an exercise for longer period overall. 20-30 minutes per topic practiced.
