Various progressions and minor preacher chords
« on: January 20, 2008, 04:45:59 PM »
Here is a walk-down I mistakenly did on Sunday, while playing "Jesus is real". This part leads into "I can feel Him in my hands."

Usually I'll play it like...

RH / LH
Note: (Right hand first) When you just see "Eb" or something similar in the right hand, it means to play a major chord.

6-b6-5 walk-down

Key Eb

Eb / C
D / B
DbMaj7 / Bb
DbMaj7 b5 / Eb
Cmin7 / Ab

or

Eb / C
E / B
DbMaj7 / Bb
DbMaj7 b5 / Eb
Eb / Ab

OR

Eb / Caug
E / B7
DbMaj7 / Bb
DbMaj7 b5 / Eb
Eb / Ab

...but while I wasn't looking the Spirit dropped the bold part on me.

Eb / C
E / B
F / Bb
BMaj7 / Ab
BMaj7 b5 / Db
Gb
Bb-Eb-Ab / B
F-Bb-Db / G

Eb / Ab

...Do it double-time.

Here is a dissonant 6-7-#1 (whole-step) progression that I did using a tritone a whole-step offset. Do this double-time too. It'll sound off, if you stay on one of the first three chords too long.

Ab-D-G / C
Bb-E-A / D
C-F-Bb / E, Db
Bb-C-E / C
Bb / D
C7 / E
D-G-C / D-Ab

Minor Preacher Chords

Key Cmin

Gmin7 / C
GMaj7 / A
AbMaj7 / Bb
GbMaj7 / Ab
EMaj7 / Gb
F-B-E / G
Gmin7 / C

This is a variation of the last one. Play it double-time from the GbMaj7 chord.

Gmin7 / C
G-C#-F# / A
Gb-C-F / Bb
E-Bb-Eb / Ab
GbMaj7 / Eb
GbMaj7 b5 / Ab
Fmin7 / Db
F-B-E / G
Gmin7 / C

Dm7 b5, Cm7 / C
Dm7 b5, Cm7 / D
Gm / Eb
Gb6 b5, Bb / Bb
Gb6 b5, Ab6 b5 / Ab
Fdim7 / G
A-D-G-B / C-G-Eb (CmM13)

Dm7 b5, Cm7 / C
Dm7 b5, Cm7 / D
Gm / Eb
G / A
Ab / Bb
G / A
Gb / Ab
G / A
Ab / Bb
GbMaj7 / Ab
EMaj7 / Gb
F-B-E / G
Gmin7 / C

It's automatic. It changes everyday.

I added a couple more preacher chord progressions.

Naw, man!

This is piano, dude!

You can play this on organ by playing the bass note with the foot pedals and adding a tritone or some other chord to your left hand, on the ones that only use 1 note in the bass. Note, even though I only annotated one note for most of these chords, I usually play more that one. A lot of times I'll play a maj7, min7, or dominant in the left hand....minus the third in some cases, minus the 5th in others.

There are some heavyweights in the organ room!

Hi Bobby, you have two options:

1) Copy and paste the stuff you want onto a word doc and print; or
2) write everything into a notebook/ piece of paper and go practice it.

Unfortunately there are no files for download [now].
