Cool.
Watching this video reminded me of something that I was told almost 30 years ago, just before I started playing the guitar.
This guy came to my middle school music class and brought his guitar to play some songs for us. Ended up that he was the owner of a local music store that I eventually became a regular visitor of.
Anyway, while he was playing his instrument and we were all mezmorized at his fretting fingers, he made a point to tell us that what his picking and strumming hand was doing was much more important than what his other hand was doing. How the rhythm was set by his strumming hand and how dynamics are set by his strumming hand and how hard or soft he was picking.
I've never forgotten that and the close ups of Jonathan's hand in this video made me feel the need to mention that because he displays that fact so well. The rhythm and dynamics are key to what he's playing. The notes he's hitting are not too crazy or anything...just simple blues riffs...but it's the way that he's playing those riffs with his right hand that make it sound so cool.
