Good stuff... I never liked it when people compliment me.. I try to just not let it root in my heart.. because I know that without God Im nothing!!

Good post... Bottom line " make the main thing, the main thing."

"Christ and Him crucified" .. as Paul says..
"For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain".

...you shouldn't be like that either "dough".  The correct thing to do is to say thank you and Praise God.  There's absolutely nothing wrong with someone giving you a compliment because after all, you do work hard at what you do....don't you?  All the Glory belongs to God but yes, it's okay to get a lil' praise by the people listening.  Now, you can't let that go to your head.  That's where the problem is.  You also can't always expect to get a compliment all of the time.  That's another problem.   ;)

Yeah, Im like Edough, I don't like people complimenting me alot.  I know that isn't the right attitude but that not just me. But after what you said Funky, I agree.

everytime i get a compliment i try not say thank you because i feel like im taking Gods glory, but if i dont say thanks i dont want people to think im cocky. So i always say thank u then i say all glory be to God. Than i give them a comment back.

Great stuff! A lot of drummers these days see drumming as all flair when it's really worship

i like your perspective on this, but for me its a personal conviction..
I do agree with you though..

...I understand man.  I used to be the cat that said nothing and kept on walking.  A friend of mine had to school me on this.  He said all Glory goes to God but when a person compliments us, our job is to say "Glory to God and Praise God for he is the giver of all gifts..." and end it with "thank you".....or vice versa.

...I'm not going to lie....it took me a minute but now I understand.  I feel you though "e".

Sometimes the person giving you a compliment is looking for something too. Thats why I'd rather just change the subject real quick...

I just want people to see the Lord and not the worship team or my playing..

Its a cool post, but what is the difference in what he's saying in that novel, and the principals of being a good overall musician?  There isnt anything in that article that hasnt already been said in one thread or another.
