New to the Piano - Need a few good SIMPLE\EASY practice songs
« on: November 28, 2007, 01:00:02 PM »
I'm looking for some simple chorded songs that will boost my morale. I'm just getting started with the piano and was looking for  something simple that would also make for good practice.

You should learn Thank you Lord, Oh Lord We Praise You, and Lord I Lift You Name on High in every key if you can. Type those songs in the advanced search and the chords should come up.
Vision without action is just day dreaming. I miss practicing.

Well when I was new, the first easy song to learn was Oh Lord, We Praise You;  We Lift Our Hands N The Sanctuary, Blessed In The City, Leaning on the Everlasting Arms.  There's a bunch more.  If you want to i'll get you the chords.

i know this song is probably boring to you, but the simplest gospel song is Joyful, Joyful Lord We Adore Thee. It is a hymn song actually.

Hymns, traditional Christmas Carols (hymns), and kids songs are easy to start out w/ b/c most of them just use the 1, 4, and 5 chords (major chords) in any key.  Some of them do add other chords but they're usually easy to figure out.

Also, Lean On Me, Alleluia, and He's All I Need are very easy to play.  Check out my MIDI file album, I have He's All I Need And Lean On Me in there.  I thought I had a midi of Alleluia, but it's not on my card.  (I know I posted a mp3 of it earlier this yr on another site and it used to be on my MySpace, maybe I was thinking of that.)  Maybe I still have it in my keyboard's memory.  If not, I'll record another one and try to get it uploaded in the next few days:

Check out SisterT's site.  There's a lot of songs there chorded out.  There's also a lot of midi files there too.  Also, you can find a lot of songs chorded in the forums here.  Just use the search feature.

Also, check out the scales, chords, and fingering chart on her site too.  It's an EXCELLENT RESOURCE!!!:

God bless! :)

Amen is also another easy song.  There's several midi files in the Video/Midi section that someone else just recently posted.

Order My Steps is really easy, and folks will think you've been playing for years.  There is a guy on you tube that teaches the song, and he goes very slow.

Here is the link.  Practice the first and second verses.  The end is a little more complicated.
