Military: What is/was your favorite cadence?
« on: September 20, 2007, 06:54:08 PM »
Marching:

Everywhere I Go

Everywhere I go
There's a Drill Sergeant there
Every where I go
There's a Drill Sergeant there
Drill Sergeant
Drill Sergeant
Why don't you leave me alone
And let me go back home
When I eat my chow... (sub in for Everywhere I go)
When I comb my hair...
When I brush my teeth...
When I get my shots...
When I do PT...
When I see my girl...
When I get out of bed...
On an FTX...

They Say That In The Army

They say that in the Army the coffee's mighty fine
It looks like muddy water and tastes like turpentine
Chorus:
Oh Lord, I wanna go
But they won't let me go
Oh Lord, I wanna go hoo-hoo-hoooome EH!
They say that in the Army the chow is mighty fine
a chicken jumped off the table and started marking time
Chorus:
Oh Lord, I wanna go
But they won't let me go
Oh Lord, I wanna go hoo-hoo-hoooome EH!
They say that in the Army the biscuits are mighty fine
one rolled off the table and killed a friend of mine
Chorus:
Oh Lord, I wanna go
But they won't let me go
Oh Lord, I wanna go hoo-hoo-hoooome EH!
They say that in the Army the training's might fine
last night there were ten of us, now there's only nine
Chorus:
Oh Lord, I wanna go
But they won't let me go
Oh Lord, I wanna go hoo-hoo-hoooome EH!
They say that in the Army the pay is mighty fine
they give you a hundred dollars and take back ninety-nine
Chorus:
Oh Lord, I wanna go
But they won't let me go
Oh Lord, I wanna go hoo-hoo-hoooome EH

Running:

Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'

Rollin' rollin' rollin'
Oh my feet are swollen
Don't let your dingle dangle dangle in the mud
Pickup your dingle dangle, give it to your bud
Rollin' rollin' rollin'
Oh my ankles are swollen
Don't let your dingle dangle dangle in the dirt
Pickup your dingle dangle, put it in your shirt
Rollin' rollin' rollin'
Oh my legs are swollen
Don't let your dingle dangle dangle on the ground
Pickup your dingle dangle, toss it all around
Rollin' rollin' rollin'
Oh my knees are swollen
Don't let your dingle dangle dangle in the track
Pickup your dingle dangle, put it in your pack

My favorite cadence in JROTC was taken from the Frosted Flakes commercial but we used it in our own way. Sorry B3, these aren't written in the best form but thats just the way we sing them around here. ;D

Cadences?????  Marching???? ...........................oh yea, I remember seeing those Marines doing something like that in the early mornings......while we were drinking our lattes.
I'd rather be imperfectly inspired, than to be perfectly entertained...

All my favorites are Marine Corps cadences, but I'm hesitant about posting them.  NO, there's no profanity.  The content is a touch too gruesome for most though.  3rd & Dubz know what I'm talking about.   ;)  8)

Then again,...

1)  "Don't Let The Green Grass Fool Ya" (I had those cats in 3-part harmony on that one)

2)  Ya Right, Ya Left, Right Oooonnnnn
     Right On, Fight Oooonnnnn
Ya Right, Ya Left, Right Oooonnnnn
     Right On, Fight Oooonnnnn....

3)  Little Yellow Birdie w/a yellow bill...

4)  My Marine Corps color is...

5)  DELAYED CADENCE.  MARINE CORPS CADENCE.  DELAYED CADENCE, COUNT!!!!

Just to name a few that I COULD post.

This one was always scary:

I Hear The Choppers

I hear the choppers coming,
They're flying overhead.
They've come to get the wounded,
They've come to get the dead.

(chorus)

My buddy's in a foxhole,
A bullet in his head,
The medic says he is wounded,
But I know that he's dead

(chorus)

I ran to tell the CO
About my buddy's head
But when I got there,
The CO was dead

(chorus)

And now the battle's over,
and smoke is all around.
We wanted to go home,
But we're six feet underground.

(chorus)

I don't know WHY  we sang this one. I guess it kind of made you not feel bad about dying. There was another one we sang about going to a playground and shooting up kids, so I know what you mean LT. I didn't like singing that one and the Yellow Bird one.

I hated running but that cadence always seemed to make the trip end fastest.

You know doggone well we went to church on some of these.  When they DID actually let an officer lead the runs/humps, it was all good!  On that first one, when we got to clapping...that's when I found out who my COGIC Marines were.  :D

Ditto on the ability to post the gruesome chants.  Some people in LGM ain't ready for all that yet.

I know about the Marine Cadence's.  Although I'm Air Force, my TI (AKA Drill Sergeant) was a former marine, I think that he thought we were marines at times because we were doing things that not other flights were not doing.  I remember one time he put a kid between a locker and hit him in the chest over a cup of coffee that he wasn't suppose to have, but anyhoo back to the subject; Most of the cadences we did had a lot of killing and sexual nuances in them so I will not repeat them

He better have hit that kid because that coffee was decaffinated.  If it wasn't, then the hit didn't count.

Ok, THIS is just dripping with comedy.  There's much truth to it, but it's outweighed by the comedy!!   :D :D :D :D

Yeah, I remember that one too!  Thats crazy because my TI lost his voice around the beginning of the 2nd week, and I lost mine the first night.  I was the element leader and I did A LOT of yelling at them cats.  3 years later my voice still hasn't completely made it back.

I remember teasing my guys about having to do PT before breakfast.  A couple of times I would run them by the chow hall and have them chant:

*sniff sniff*
*sniff sniff*

smell that bacon
smell that bacon

*sniff sniff*
*sniff sniff*

smell them pancakes
smell that pancakes

That one didn't go over too well with the hungry guys, but it was funny.

Speaking of PT at my squadron now, they got us running 5 miles twice a week.  Which is not the norm for Air Force, but I work w/ some special people.  I don't know what it is, but they always wanna eat all u can eat on the days we have to run.  All I can say is it always tastes the same going down and coming back up!
