In case you have fallen by the way-side of life;

You don't have to stay in the shape that you're in;

6           2                    2    3     b5        5    6    7   1

You who are broken,  stop by the pot-ter's house.

my  fri-end, the potter wants to put you back to-ge-ther a-gain,

You've already figured it out...

Yes, the root chord would be a Bb chord...the song may use a larger Bb chord (ie., 7, 13) but it will be a Bb chord

Yes, the Bb will be your bass note in most cases...although, you already know you can voice the same chord differently so Bb does not necessarily have to be the the bass note used on the piano.  However, for common practice the Bb...will be the bass note.

All you need to do is...using your formula, "listen" to the song and find what Bb chord to use (maj, min, M7, ., etc)

Hope this Helps...I don't know the song off hand or I would try to help pick out the chords for you...Be Blessed.

Basically, what you got here is your progressions, which are the bass notes.  So,  what I would do is rewrite this the long way and put in the bass notes for the numbers.  Here is an example using the intro:

Potters House Key:Db

(INTRO)

Bb (6)
Eb (2)

Bb (6)
Eb (2)
F  (3)
G (b5)

G (b5)
Ab (5)
Bb (6)
C (7)
Db (1)

Now, it's been a while since i heard this song, but if I were playing from what's written above, this is the chords I might put with them:

(INTRO)

Bb / F-Bb-Db (6)
Eb / Gb-Bb-Eb (2)

Bb / F-Bb-Db (6)
Eb / Gb-Bb-Eb (2)
F / F-Ab-Db (3)
G / F-Bb-Db (b5)

G / F-Bb-Db (b5)
Ab / Eb-Ab-C (5)
Bb / Db-Gb-Bb (6)
C / Eb-Ab-C (7)
Db / F-Ab-Db (1)

Then you can use the melody notes from the song to see what inversion to play your chords in.  Does that help?
