How to found a new Community Choir
« on: August 31, 2007, 09:07:44 AM »
Hi brothers!
I'm new at this forum and surely my English will not be very correct (I'm from Spain) but I give thanks to da Lord for this web site!!!
I need you help me with your wisdom and experience with this challenge.
You need understand some things before, so I'm gonna try to explain us now.  ;)

Our Choirs in Spain most of the times aren't Church Choirs (even if it's a small choir). So our choirs not sing to the church, not sing to believers!!

Furthermore, not always (maybe is the rare case) our community choirs has the support of the churches around da choir.
But it's changing.

I'm from Barcelona and I'm conducting the Barcelona Gospel Choir. This choir was 4 years ago 250 people!! but now a day we are no more than 60. But it has not very importance 'cause the choir will end in October for different reasons.

The fact is that for different reasons we have to found a new choir. Let me explain you it.
- In Spain, the Gospel music has made a important work to joint churches that were separated even staying closed each to the other.
- Also, Gospel music let us to work with the govern (it's a secular govern!!) and with the town councils!! It's a powerful tool for bring the gospel of Christ to places and people who never will visit one of our churches and who many times visit it after watch us in a concert!!
- How i said, It's a tool for send the gospel of Christ in our traditionally catholic country and now a day atheistic.
- And finally and no less important, 'cause We love this kind of music. It's for me the best way and at time the easiest way to praise and worship the Lord!! and the community of believers in Barcelona are waiting for the new choir foundation.

So, I tried to make you a background description of what is happening here. After that, What do you thing I can do?
What I need to begin a new project?
One of the problems with the choirs here is that people tried to imitate your choirs (and not always the traditional or Church's choirs) So what can I do to  prevent it?

Whatever you say me will help me. Thank U before all!! And continue blessing!!

P.D. If do you not understand something please ask me, I'll try to explain better..  ;D

Some of you have read this post and sure you will pray for us ad this new ministry for God. But I ask 4 help, I need listen 'bout your experience. May be the question is not "how to found" 'cause this choir is almost founded. so the question will be What I must know to can guide this new project unto god's way? We are writing our first lines of Gospel Ministries in Spain. The older choir here is only 14 years old!!  :o

Whatever you thing it can help me to understand better all. And continue praying for the musical ministry in Spain!! Is a hard and many times lonely place with all the dangers inside itself...

Please, don't be afraid to write. Whatever you've learned please, teach me it!!

Thank's for all!!
