where do I go from here (1-4-5)
« on: August 29, 2007, 08:27:08 PM »
When I accompany someone singing, I play this 1-4-5 pattern. I play it the same way in every key, I get by with it on alot of songs. BUT sometimes I need to add one or two chords to it, that will work and lead back smoothly to the one chord. This is how I play the 1-4-5 that works for me almost everytime
key C      C/ C E G   1

              F/ C F A   4

              C/ C E G   1

              G/  B D G   5

I just keep repeating it over and over. I NEED SOME HELP ON THIS, I THANK YOU IN ADVANCE

Welcome to LGM!!

Start here: http://www.learngospelmusic.com/forums/index.php/topic,42768.0.html

That will help you understand where you can go.  I also recommend that you purchase a good chord book, and something like Jermaine Griggs course " The Secrets to Playing Piano  by ear" .  It is a comprehensive course to get you started in the right direction.

Do you read music?  Well if you do, you can also purchase some other books like "Gospel Piano" by Kurt Cowling.  There are so many resources available to learn from just remember it will take a lot of time, diligence and patience.

If you are interested in additional resources check out these threads: http://www.learngospelmusic.com/forums/index.php/topic,30477.msg220787/topicseen.html#msg220787

These are all threads relating to books available to help us learn more.  I hope this helps you get started, but remember the greatest help will be prayer.  God will lead you to what you need to do and as you grow He will show you more.  God Bless you!
