Listen to a guitar player and try to mimic it on the keys. Know that you won't get it exactly, but you can get it good enough for general purposes.

Another thing to think about is the kind of keyboard you have. Like a concertmate will have gutiars and bass sound but they just don't sound exactly like the real thing but where as a Korg Triton or Alesis QS6.2 will sound pretty close. I have found that bass sounds are the easiest to use. Some of the other gutiar sound get a distiorted or a weird sound. My favorite thing to do is split my keyboard left half bass and the right half brass. this works pretty good on songs like "In the sanctuary" by KurttCarr. I really hope this helps.
