Head Combinations

What's up Fam,

It's been a minute since I have been on here (not even sure if anyone may remember me). But I was wondering you guys could help with a little problem I am having. I have just recently started getting back into drumming (taking a break from the whole music production scene) and i recently got my hands on 2 snares. The first one is a 7x13 Black Panther maple snare (black with beautiful gold lugs and hoops). The second one is a 6.5x14 Pearl Sensitone snare.

The problem I am running into is getting the right head combination (top & bottom) for the sound that I want, especially for the Sensitone. For that snare I am loving the way Jeremy Haynes has his snare tuned low but still maintaining that pop. For the Black Panther, i would like the opposite. I have been out the game for a minute so I pretty much know little about the heads that are out there now so any help form you guys would be greatly appreciated. Much luv and be blessed!!!!

...well, I'm not a fan of this head but Jeremy is always talking about it sooooo, Remo Emperor X with the Ambassador Snare Side for the Pearl.  Try it and see what you can do with it.

...now for the Black Panther, *If you're not sure on what sound you want*, try going with the industry standard Remo Coated Ambassador over Ambassodor snare side or Evans G1 Coated over Hazy 300.  Check the snare wires.  You might have to change 'em.  If you do, the PureSound or Dynamix Wires work great.  PM j_kay or Ibildrums and they'll help you with the right strand since they are the snare masters around here. lol

Thanks JFunky.....

Oddly enough, I was going to buy the Emperor X the other day but decided to wait until I did some research and got some opinions.

And thanks for the advise on the BP. Will try out one of those combinations. Good lookin out!

For the sensitone I suggest a Genera or Genera HD batter and Hazy 300. The HD (12mil center, 17 mil edge) gives fatness/warmth and control with crack and definition without the thick/deadness of the Emperor X (20 mil). I am rocking the HD on my Dave Weckl and it kills. Medium tight batter.

For the Black Panther the Evans G2,  Power Center reverse dot, ST or the Genera HD over a Hazy 200 for sensitivity and defined crack or a Hazy 300 for general pop. Puresound Equalizer wires for a crisp dryness would set it off.
