When I hear women sing, I get the impression it is sweet. Sometimes men who sing can be egoists looking to show off their voices. Of course you know you can get a lot of attention from women when you sing. It is a great come-on.
I sing enough to have voice-ear-hand-eye coordination. The more senses you have working in cooperation the better. The more people at your church who work together, the better for all of you.
I lead the choir with a couple of songs, and I have one song I sing with the male chorus, however I choose to concentrate on my instrumental sound rather than sing to worship God. My only motivation for singing is to worship and not to see how many women I can entice into my bedroom. I am a 56 year old divorced man who has no intention of ever getting married again. I don't have any problem attracting women.
I prefer to work to accompany and teach others to lead songs. I try to encourage people who are not playing an instrument to sing. That is my purpose in the church.
Oh one more thing. I found it hard to recruit boys to the school choir when I was the public school vocal music teacher for twenty years. I never had a shortage of girls who liked to sing. I even had a nephew in the school who was the valedictorian and gave the graduation speech, but he didn't want to sing. I have tried to encourage my son to sing and try to work for a music scholarship, but he won't.
I can't figure it out. It's gonna take somebody much smarter than me to figure it out.
