can anybody tell me how to make midi files. is there some kinda software i should use?
Yes there is, Best Buy, Circit City, or a big music store have programs out there...I have Magix 6.0 deluxe, in it is Midi Maker as well as the Audio program, I also have Acid 4.0, which can also do midis..Cakewalk is another good program. The cheapest of the lot is Magix, but it's very good.
you'll also need midi cables, I have the "midiman" usb port / midi cable, it's around $65.00, Magix may be about $50.00 or so, you're going into the $100.00's of dollars for Acid & Cakewalk.
Which ever ones you get, make sure you assign it to your soundcard, and your keyboard should be set to GM,(general midi), or the "local" sounds in the keyboard is of, you can use the sounds from the program, or the soundcard. also, the midi cables should be hooked up: "backwards"

[cable]midi out = in on keyboard
then hooked to either the game / joystick port , or usb
