Parables for Today
« on: March 07, 2007, 08:38:08 AM »
I received these this morning.

************************
The Kingdom of God is like this:

There was a certain man who went out for the day to buy and sell. Coming upon a beggar he said to him, "Would you like to buy what I have?"

Examining what was for sale the beggar exclaimed "This is already mine! See, my name is inscribed on the bottom of it! You stole it from me!"

Answering the beggar the man said, "Our Father has taken this away from you and has given it to me."

Also, the Kingdom of God is like this:

A certain man was taken to a high place to meet with a man who said to him "All that you desire is within my power to give you. I will give it to you if you submit yourself unto me."

Laughing the man replied "While you lorded over me you had the power to give me what I desired. I no longer desire such things as I have a new Lord now."

Jesus used stories and parables to show spiritual truths during His earthly ministry. Today, to get points across to me and to help me undertand, He does the same thing through the Holy Spirit.

Like it or not, the Church, the BOC, is again coming into a time of transition. We can stay where we are or we can "Jump in the River and Flow". I truly want to be a part of His plans rather than ask Him to bless my plans.

I hope I never get to the point where I feel I've got it all "figured out". He writes His laws on hearts of flesh instead of tablets of stone for a reason. He wants to add to what we know and continously expand who we are. What He shows us, when written on our hearts, isn't easily forgotten.

Be blessed.

IRT parables, there was one among the disciples that understood EVERY parable Jesus ever spoke. I don't know if/how it's written in the Bible, but I read it somewhere.  Is this true and if so, who was it?

That's a great question. I hope someone answers this before I research it!  ;)

Jesus sometimes told the answer to his parables in private. There are other times where he told the answer to the parable after he told the multitudes. He even spoke in metaphors to the pharasees. Usually those metaphors were directed at them..
