The whole band got off easy because of the track.  That allows for the drummer especially to pace himself.  I really think that they need to teach the MD about tension and release.  The band built up a WHOLE lot of tension in the their pattern, but never let it go.  I was sitting on the edge of my chair waiting for them to go into a traditional shout, but all they did was play a bunch of tritones and augmented chords.  It was hard to make it thru the entire clip without pulling all of my hair out.

I didn't like this one because it was just bad music.  It didn't release.  It built up tension to build more tension.  Ida shot myself in that church....  That, or tried to get the cats to release before my head exploded.

True...............It was hot but way, WAY to much.  Sometimes, a strong traditional drive is much more effective.  i know a lot of times some older people cant stand the "new school' breaks.  Thats the kind of stuff I like to save for a concert

Yeah, This shout is not for everyone, but I still think it's hot and I like it! That shout sequence was for that church. I didn't see anyone at that church upset or sitting down, there we people being touched and the pastor loved it too. If the Pastor authorizes the shout then that's it...no more discussion. If God is moving and touching souls then that's all the better(which should be primary). I thought that was kinda cool and refreshing for this one time I saw it, but there are different things for different churches and if the congregation and the Pastor most of all likes it then I think it's ok for them.

Could I get away with it at most churches in my city... NO!.... but some churches in my city...YES!, but I think that particular shout flow is for them if they like it, and it didn't seem to be too fast for the older saints. If any of the cats on this clip is a member of LGM....keep it going dudes and God Bless. Those cats are young, have potential, and they are under a pastor that allows some freedom on their instruments the praise God which is priceless. I heard their Pastor is a MONSTER musician too.

God Bless

that was tight! especially da way it ended on a smooth note, along with gospel i love smooth jazz so when i hear people jazz up gospel music especially a shout " to me" there's nothing better!

I think you're getting all worked up about nothing.  Its not that serious.  I just said that MUSICALLY its not appeasing to my ears.  There was no release to the tension.  I believe that the way this arrangement stands at this point it is bad.  I think that its nice for a break and a change of pace to add flavor.  I wouldn't use it as my primary default for a shout tho.

Dude....Believe me, I am not worked up about anything. I just stating how I feel about the clip. I didn't address anyone in particular, because I'm not about that. I'm all about building the kingdom. This is not my church bro, and to some point I agree with you that it may be a little overboard or just not good music to some, but for this church it seems to be a blessing. I'm just speaking from what I see on the clip. I can take the sequence for what it was and mold it the way it would fit for my band. That's the thing about music...you can change it and arrange it to what you want it to be. I find it hard to leave with nothing or no musical ideas from that shout sequence.

juSe, I did not intend to portray that I was upset at all bro. and I am not upset, I'm not worked up man and you're right...it's not that serious. I've been around LGM far too long to get into discussions about certain things that will cause arguements and fights. I'm sure you know dude what I'm talking about and you should know by now that just not ME. It's all love man. I've heard better shouts and I have certainly heard worse, so I liked the ideas, the sequence and maybe the execution was not flawless, but I think it accomplished what they aimed for with that young congregation and young band...

Much Love and God Bless

By the way my peoples, I posted a new Kim Burrell clip in the general forum and it's at that same church, but I didn't post it here because they didn't show the band until the very end which disappointed me, but the band was tight regardless.

God Bless
