It is funny that I was reading this very passage in my study bible last week. The commentator highlighted what made the woman in the passage of scripture virtuous is the fact of her reverance for God. She has a strong compassion for those who are in need and faithful to her family. The commentator highlighted one key thing with the phrase Who can find. All of the things that the scriptures mention are not meant for the woman to be all of those things. Most women will have varied results in their material resources. Would one not be virtuous because her husband isn't as successful as the next. The virtue is in the wisdom to fear God and to serve her family, others, and her material resources in that fear. Nothing is more important than her reverance for God. The bible declares that the fear of the lord is wisdom. When we serve our spouses in the fear of God then we are in harmony with Ephesians 5:22. How can we serve our spouses if we serve the lord poorly. Dang I just preached to myself on that one. If we want better results in our marriage relationship we should check our reverance for the lord in our lifestyle. It will surely translate into our relationships. Husbands have a role that is equally powerful because in Ephesians 5:25 we should be prepared to lay down our lives both literally and spirutally. Meaning we should be willing to lay down our own agendas, egos, and insecurities that do not promote the annointed purpose for our lives and the family that we are responsible for. So the virtue is really interwoven into the blood covenant that Christ is for us and the blood covenant created on the wedding night with the breaking of the hymen. Pretty deep. Let me say I'm not trying to be argumentative to other points made before I posted this. This is my personal perspective based on my experience induced by what the bible teaches about our discussion.
