Foods for the voice.
« on: September 05, 2006, 05:19:59 PM »
Lately a friend of mine has been making ginger tea. Basically just gets a green tea bag and cuts up some ginger root then boils them both. You can use honey to sweeten it but this is good on the throat. I drink it straight or with honey. If you let it sit for a few hours then reboil it it will be stronger.
Vision without action is just day dreaming. I miss practicing.

Marshmallow Root:  Helps remove mucus from the lungs, heals, soothes and relaxes bronchial tubes. Marshmallow is known for it's mucilaginous properties.

Osha Root: Native to New Mexico, it's the most powerful respiratory anti-viral. It also bronchio-dilates, warms the lungs by increasing blood supply, soothes and protects the throat.

Echinacea Root:  An anti-bacterial and anti-viral immune stimulant. It prevents tissue breakdown and keeps the white blood cells alert in order to protect the throat. It also helps to keep saliva flowing and prevent drying up.

Licorice Root: A strong systemic anti-inflammatory and immune stimulant.

Propolis: A powerful anti-bacterial and protects the throat like a force field.

Ginger Root: A warming circulatory stimulant to the respiratory tract. It helps increase secretions to prevent drying.

Honey: Soothes and coats the throat and adds immune protection.

Also, if discover your voice trying to get new on you right before a performance (hoarseness and scratchiness), you can mix vinegar and honey together and gargle with it. I've tried it because my voice acts up everytime I get ready to sing, and it does work.

Hey now.........we have our own personal herbologist on this site.  That's cool MM  :D. How many of these have you tried?  After you drank the ginger tea did you feel and hear a difference in your voice?

Another question:  How much does this recipe make?

I've been using a 1 quart pot, but I'm sure it makes more than that.
