I know this was a talent show but he was a little too "flashy" for my taste, and he never established the groove. Did way more choppin' than groovin' and most of the chops didn't stay in time. I was sixteen once and these type of comments would have went over my head at that age so I understand his apprehension. I'm just convinced that a lot of the younger drummers are picking up the instrument not because of the love for it, but the flash of it. This deteriorates the craft, and, in essence, creates fly-by-night musicians who'll never experience longevity with this instrument.
