Keyboard Amp
« on: October 16, 2006, 12:22:32 PM »
I would like to be informed about some Low-End  but good sounding keyboard amps. The MOM and myself are going to put our money together and buy another amp  because our original amp blew last weekend during our 1st choir anniversary but their was a ram in the bush and a fellow musician let us borrow his for the weekend.

When you say low end I assume you mean cheap. The best keyboard amp I know out there is the Roland KC series. The KC550 will work in about any size church. The 350 will do nice in a small church.

I got to play on the Behringer keyboard amp at the music store here. It was the large one like the KC550. I sounded just as good as the KC550 I was surprised but I didnt get to hear this amp blasted. It was clear though. Without the effects it sounded kinda plain but good enough. It did have a buzz though if the master volume was set at 0. But it went away when the volume was turned up. I dont know if it was because of bad grounding. That amp was heavy too and didnt have castor wheels like the Roland. I have read online that you have to break some of their speakers in by playing at low volume first. But I think the Behringer might hold it down. It didnt distort when play from lows to highs on the key board either. Even the string sound didnt distort. It runs $279.

I played at a church last friday night on a radio shack high end keyboard through a Alesis Sumo 300. It was at another church. Im not sure about how the guy had the EQ on it set up but I didnt like the sound. But those are good amps to check into too.
Vision without action is just day dreaming. I miss practicing.

I have the Sumo 300 to go with my Alesis Qs7 its a nice Amp if you have the EQ leveled good. The church bought it so I wont complain, however my first pick would be the Roland KC series those are nice with any board.
