Hello to everyone, I am new to LGM and it has already been a great blessings! I have not been playing long, but was immersed in music by my Father who has been playing for 30 years or so. At any rate my pastor has told me, "if you can't play anything but amazing grace, play that". So basically it has been demanded of me that I play starting this coming up Sunday. I can play around 20 or so songs, but unfortunately nothing that I know how to play they sing. They have a very established Praise and Worship Team and has recently lost a child prodigy (literally) as their pianist (just my luck huh) and I am being thrown into a big pond with no practice with the Praise and Worship Team... My main thing is that I do not want to disturb the flow of God since I know that Praise and Worship is an essential part of the service. Right now, I need to know how to get my left hand stronger. I can play chords and small baselines, but fast songs are not exactly my strong suit. I go to a pentecostal church so you know that shouting music is a major part of my "repetoir" that needs strength immediately. Are there any exercises that i can do for this? Keep in mind that I am in college with only about 20-30 minutes each day to practice (if that). I want to make the most of my practice time seeing that I don't have much at all.
Also, I am looking for the song, "I have a father who cares" and I cannot find the lyrics anywhere and was wondering if anyone could help me out. The song is rather old and more than likely came out in the early 90's or late 80's. It goes...
I may not be able to tell the sea when to roll
Or the stars to shine at my command
I may not be able to tell the wind when to blow
Before it rolls across the sand
but there is one consolation I'm happy to know
I have a father who cares
Its something close to this...if anyone remembers please tell me.
Peace and Much Love
